Earlier this year, Google also elevated the Bard chatbot from PaLM-2 to Gemini Pro, signaling a continued commitment to advancing AI-driven solutions within its developer ecosystem. Much like its predecessor, the Gemini bot seamlessly integrates into the Integrated Development Environment (IDE), empowering developers to seek coding-related assistance effortlessly.
Google promises developers an uptick in answer quality across various aspects of their workflow, including code completions, debugging, resource discovery, and documentation creation.
To address privacy concerns, users are required to log in and explicitly enable Gemini, with the bot’s responses tailored to the conversation history and context provided by the developer. Furthermore, Google emphasizes the accessibility of the Gemini API starter template within Android Studio, enabling developers to integrate generative AI-powered features into their applications seamlessly.
Last year, the introduction of the PaLM-2-based Codey assistant marked Google’s foray into providing programming and Google Cloud Services-related support.
