The hardware cryptocurrency wallet company Trezor has launched the Trezor Academy in Africa as part of its global Bitcoin education programs. At the Africa Bitcoin Conference in Accra, Ghana on December 4, the educational initiative was formally launched with the purpose of spreading Bitcoin awareness across the continent.
The Trezor Academy provides a venue for people in Africa to learn about the potential of cryptocurrencies through in-person gatherings organized by local Bitcoin professionals. It was initially offered as a pilot in 2023.
The pilot from the Trezor Academy has served in a number of African nations, such as Kenya, Burundi, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Uganda. In 2024, Trezor intends to open academies in more than ten more African nations, training hundreds of local educators to disseminate information about Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s possible advantages for local projects including payment schemes, microfinancing, and savings were highlighted by CEO Matej Zak, who underlined the cryptocurrency’s importance to adoption in Africa.
Trezor is bolstering Bitcoineta, an initiative to raise Bitcoin understanding in West African countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, and Benin, as part of its African education program. A Bitcoin-themed automobile is visiting the Economic Community of West African States as part of Bitcoineta, an initiative launched in 2018 by Bitcoin Argentina and Bitcoin Americana, with the goal of spreading the Bitcoin message in rural communities and schools.

Starting on December 1st, the Bitcoineta road trip will be organized in conjunction with Bitcoin Cowries, an educational effort in Ghana focused on Bitcoin. X (formerly Twitter) and other Bitcoineta social media profiles, as well as video blogs and other media platforms, will report on the vehicle’s development.
Support from the Bitcoin community, particularly sales of the October-launched limited edition Trezor Safe 3 hardware wallet that was Bitcoin only, helped fund the formation of the Trezor Academy, which Trezor acknowledged.
