Jaynti Kanani, one of the co-founders of Polygon, has revealed that he is taking a step back from the day-to-day operations of the project for the first time in six years.
In a Twitter thread posted on October 4th, Kanani shared his decision and stated his intention to explore new opportunities while continuing to contribute to Polygon from a more distant vantage point. Kanani, alongside fellow software engineers Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun, and Mihailo Bjelic, played a pivotal role in the creation of the Matic network in 2017, which later rebranded itself as Polygon.
After kickstarting Polygon in 2017, around 6 months back, I decided to step back from the day-to-day grind.

Nailwal responded to Kanani’s announcement with emotion, expressing gratitude for the journey they’ve undertaken together and wishing they could have extended their collaboration in Polygon’s ongoing journey. Polygon has a total of 10 co-founders, some of whom remain involved in various side projects within the ecosystem. For instance, Arjun departed from Polygon in March when he initiated the spin-off of the blockchain data availability protocol Avail.
Man this makes me emotional. What a ride we've had together brother. But its just the start for Polygon, i wish we could've done more for longer together in this crazy journey that is Polygon. But hey, you got to do what you got to do.

Polygon Labs has initiated the acceptance of improvement proposals aimed at transitioning the network to Polygon 2.0, a plan that was unveiled in June. The upcoming ecosystem will utilize zero-knowledge proofs and feature four protocol layers dedicated to staking, interoperability, execution, and proving. As of the latest update, developers are actively working to bring Polygon 2.0 to life.
