Before the 2023 Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia, FIFA, the organization that runs soccer around the world, will release its own set of nonfungible tokens (NFTs).
The statement, made on December 11 with the help of the blockchain company Modex, said that the first 100 NFT collection would be released on December 15. The collection gives people a unique chance to get tickets to the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
900 digital items will also be made available this month on the Polygon network (MATIC) and OpenSea. In these collectibles, you’ll be able to find digital versions of football memorabilia and memorable moments from the current event.
There will be seven of the best football teams in the world at the FIFA Club World Cup, which starts on December 12 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. These teams include the winners from FIFA’s six confederations. The NFTs can be bought on FIFA+ Collect, the company’s own app that was released in September 2022 and runs on the Algorand blockchain.
“Digital collectibles increase the ways fans can interact with their favorite players, teams, and the game they love,” said Francesco Abbate, CEO of Modex, in support of FIFA’s plan.
Since it started, the FIFA+ Collect site has already had 11 NFT drops, which have given out 909,255 digital collectibles that are now owned by 16,448 people. A total of $2.4 million worth of trades have taken place on the platform in the main and secondary NFT markets. It’s important to note, though, that the Mint Volume measure could be wrong because FIFA+ Collect Info can’t tell the difference between packs that were earned for free in challenges and packs that were bought with USD Coin (USDC).
With this move, FIFA joins the growing world of NFTs. They will use blockchain technology to give sports fans unique and collectible digital items that are connected to the game. As the space for NFTs changes, projects like these help blockchain technology become more widely used in many fields, such as sports and entertainment.
