Base, a blockchain ecosystem backed by Coinbase, announced a relationship with Sound.xyz on December 19. This will allow artists to mint music directly within the Base ecosystem. Using Ethereum layer 2 technology, Base gives artists a cheaper way to make nonfungible tokens (NFTs) of their tracks, with lower gas fees and faster transaction processing times.
Sound.xyz talked about the benefits of using the Base ecosystem. They said that artists can mint and control their tracks without having to buy cryptocurrency or use a bridge to get their funds. This streamlined method is meant to make it easier for artists to get into the NFT space by making the process smooth and easy to use.
“Based,” a blockchain-themed piece by artists Reo Cragun and Heno, is the first track to be released on Base as a result of this partnership. The words of the song are in line with the basic idea behind blockchain; they promise to be strong in hard times and recognize those who do.

One interesting thing about the collaboration is that it gives everyone access to the Base network, which has more than 100 million people. Sound.xyz emphasized how important it is to reach out to this large group of users, giving a new generation of users a chance to interact with blockchain technology through music.

Recently, there has been a lot more progress in the music business and the Web3 space coming together. Millions of people around the world love the thrash metal band Megadeth, and in early December, they released a new collection. This change gave the band’s fans new ways to connect with each other, both in real life and online.
The late pop star Michael Jackson’s first studio demo was made available on the blockchain as digital vinyl through the blockchain music app Anotherblock. This was another groundbreaking event. This important event happened 50 years after the recording was made and 14 years after Jackson’s death. It shows how blockchain technology has the ability to change how music is stored and shared.

In November, I had a great chat with Cordell Broadus (Champ Medici), an entrepreneur and the son of famous rapper Snoop Dogg. Broadus talked about the work being done to bring legacy artists into Web3. He also laid out a plan for how tools like blockchain and NFTs can be used to create a new heritage in the future of music.
The fact that Base and Sound.xyz are working together is a big step forward for the Web3 music scene and shows how blockchain technology could change how artists make, share, and interact with their music.
